The site is a water park, ecological adventureland and cultural paradise on 12 acres near Cancun on the Mayan Riviera. The family-friendly venue has activities daily, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., that will appeal to all ages.
Some of highlights of a day at Xcaret are visits to the butterfly pavilion, a coral reef aquarium, an orchid museum and a rotating scenic tower, as well as beaches and swimming pools.
At the heart of the park is an underground swimming trail that leads through limestone caves and tunnels to a shallow saltwater lagoon. A tropical jungle trail with small islands for marine turtles, spider monkeys and flamingos show visitors the wide range of animals, birds and sealife indigenous to the area.
Visitors can choose to swim along the rock formations and snorkel in the caves of the underground trail, or see the waterway from above by taking a raft cruise down the park's Paradise River.
