Grand hotels, diverse menus and snorkeling make Cancun a top travel choice

The city's Hotel District and the growing number of direct flights from major U.S. cities in recent years have earned Cancun a place among several travel trends cited this year by AOL Travel. Certainly it qualifies for one category called "having a stylish stay," which is easy to come by in such a setting.
Another AOL trend, "getting back to nature," is easy to accomplish by snorkeling along the shallow Cancun reefs where swimmers can get a close-up view of an array of tropical fish and other sealife.
The inclusive offers at many of Cancun's lodgings also rate it as a good value vacation by AOL. The travel site noted the diversity of international cuisine available at hotel restaurants, in addition to authentic Mexican menus in the Hotel District and throughout the downtown area.
The Town of Cancún is more laid back, with picturesque streets filled with local shops and eateries. There are also some theaters and cinemas in town, as well as outdoor markets for travel souvenirs and gifts to bring to loved ones back home.
