Visitors can stroll Campo dei Fiori, one of Rome's best outdoor marketplaces

Visitors on a Rome vacation can find all the fixings for a luscious picnic, and a selection of flowers to decorate their lunch table, at Campo dei Fiori, which means "fields of flowers." The outdoor market, which is open only during the morning, has been located at the same site since the mid-1800s.
Even if there's no time for a picnic, marketplaces are an interesting place for visitors to stroll and watch the local population in their daily ritual of buying the fresh foods needed to prepare their homeland's renowned cuisine.
Campo dei Fiori also gives travelers an opportunity to preserve some of their vacation memories in photos of the lively gathering place. In addition to capturing some local flavor, the colors of the fresh food stands can provide some of the most beautiful shots of a Rome vacation.
