Jamaica golf club hosts popular tourney week in August

Festival Week will take place from July 31 to August 5 at the Manchester Golf Club, which dates back to the late 1880s and is believed to be the oldest golf club in the Caribbean. It is located in Mandeville.
The festival schedule calls for men and women mixed teams to compete on July 31, followed by the senior men's teams on August 1 and ladies' teams on August 2.
A junior open tournament is planned on August 2 for young golfers up to age 17. Other contests are also planned from August 3 to August 5, including one in which final competitors vie for the festival trophy.
According to Caribbean Edge magazine, Jamaica has a number of championship golf courses, including some laid out by legendary golf designers such as Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., Gary Player and Ralph Plummer. Montego Bay is the location for several Jamaican courses.
Although many are private clubs, most - including the Manchester course - are also open to the public and welcome vacationers.
